A two car accident at 8:24 Wednesday morning resulted in the death of a 20-year old Baxter Springs woman and the serious injury of an Elsmore man.
Heather Gail McAfee, 20 driving a 1993 Pontiac four door died at the scene of the head-on collision. Terry G Fraker, Elsmore, was northbound in a 1995 Ford pickup truck, on Military when he apparently crossed the center line into the south bound lane striking the McAfee vehicle. Fraker was Med-Flighted to St. Johns where he was undergoing surgery on Thursday afternoon for multiple injuries. His condition was serious late Thursday.
The accident occurred in the 3000 block of South Military Ave in front of the Randall’s Service Station.

Born August 8, 1981, in Grove, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Patricia Clark and William McAfee; she had lived in Baxter Springs for 14 years and attended Baxter Springs schools
Heather was employed at the Stables in Miami, Oklahoma and also was a teller at the State Bank in Quapaw, Oklahoma.
Heather was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered always.....
